We want to make personalized Medicine a reality for south asia
South Asian countries have been vastly under-represented in large-scale genetic studies. YouGenomics is committed to fix this. To make this happen, we are offering state-of-the-art ultra-low coverage whole-genome DNA sequencing test at a nominal cost to USA residents from Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The data will be used to build the reference genotype profile for the South Asian population. This reference data will be the first step towards understanding the genetic defects underlying diseases affecting these populations and also designing South Asia focused genetic tests for earlier diagnosis. We believe that the success of this project will shape the future of medicine in South Asia.
Who is involved in YouGenomics?
Avinash has over two decades of experience in the fields of medicine, bioinformatics and human genetics. After completing MD in India, Avinash pursued advanced education in bioinformatics and human genetics in Sweden. His post-doctoral work at Rockefeller University, New York focused on using next-generation sequencing techniques to unravel genetic defects underlying susceptibility to various infectious diseases. During his career he has made major contributions to the understanding of genetics of complex disorders like type 2 diabetes to rare monogenic forms of severe pediatric disorders. Avinash also leads the Clinical Informatics group at the New York Genome Center, New York focusing on translating high-throughput sequencing data to personalized therapies for human cancers and constitutional disorders.
YouGenomics has partnered with Gencove, a company founded by world leading scientists in the field of human genetics.
